SpaceClaim Student Edition is fully functional and includes Data Exchange I and Data Exchange II.

SpaceClaim Student Edition creates a watermark with the images it produces.

SpaceClaim is the world's fastest and most innovative 3D direct modeler. It enables engineers to easily create concepts and prepare 3D designs for prototyping, analysis, and manufacturing.

SpaceClaim brings 3D solid modeling to the desktops of engineers and analysts who work in a 3D world but don't want to become experts in traditional feature-based CAD systems.

Speed and Ease-of-Use of SpaceClaim in a 3D Printing Software!

The STL Prep for 3D Printing module prepares models for 3D printing efficiently and easily by offering a single solution that not only repairs problems, but also modifies STL and CAD files. This new module also extends SpaceClaim's intuitive interface, speed, and ability to work with any major 3D format into the 3D printing world.

Work with STL to Easily Ready Models for 3D Printing

  • Analyze and Clean STL: Watertight & intersection analysis; generalized detection of holes, misaligned normals, co-incident triangles; repair STL for printing
  • Decimation/reduction
  • Cut & Combine parts (Boolean operations)
  • Edit STL directly
Shelling & Creating Connecting Features
  • Shelling: Less printing costs, less shipping costs, faster print times
  • Creating Connecting Features: Make connecting pins or offsets to recombine the model after printing
  • Converting to solid: Thickening, deleting, splitting, and more
SpaceClaim's 3D Printing Software also:
  • Save & export STL files
  • Import other faceted formats such as OBJ, cgr, AMF

Operating Systems:
Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 10 64-bit

SpaceClaim is not supported on virtual platforms (See note below).

Intel-based Apple hardware running native Windows using Boot Camp is not supported.

Video Card:
Requires Full DirectX 9c, Shader Model 3.0 hardware support, 256 MB of graphics memory or higher, 32 bits per pixel, 1024x768 minimum resolution.

Please ensure that you have the latest graphics driver for your card and that Direct3D Acceleration is enabled.

(Run the video requirements diagnostic tool to check this)

The following commonly used video cards support the above requirements1 :

ATI Radeon R300, R420, R520, R600, or R700 series.
Radeon 9x00 cards (9700, 9800, ...) or newer

NVIDIA GeForce FX, 6, 7, or 8 series. NVIDIA FX5200s or newer

AMD FireGL T2-128 or higher (including the ‘Mobility’ series for laptops)

Pentium 4 2.0 GHZ or Athlon 2000+ or faster, 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

Recommended: 2GB RAM or higher

CD drive (only for CD installation)
2 Button Mouse with Wheel
3D Mouse (3Dconnexion - Optional)

Multi-touch now works on all Windows 7 and 8 devices via the native pen-and-touch interface.

Note regarding Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0:
SpaceClaim requires .NET 4.0, and an installer for .NET 4.0 is included within the SpaceClaim installer.

It is possible in some cases that a corrupt version of .NET will be detected as the correct version by the SpaceClaim installer. If this happens, SpaceClaim will be installed, but will not run properly. To remedy this, please manually install .NET 4.0 using Microsoft's web site, Microsoft Update or Windows Update. On some occasions, this may involve cleaning the .NET installation by uninstalling any .NET components and re-installing them all. More details can be found on Microsoft's web site here.

Once the .NET 3.0 installation is successful, the SpaceClaim installation should proceed normally.

Note on virtual platforms:
Users report successfully operating SpaceClaim on VMware Workstation 7.x and Player 3.x.

1. SpaceClaim does not certify or recommend specific graphic cards.
